TRAINING CASE STUDY #624
Client: Louise Leccisotti
Dog: Porsche — Male, Purebred Rottweiler.
Issue: Textbook “Alpha Dog”. Aggressive and indomitable.
Louise flew to Seattle to purchase her
second Rottweiler from one
of the
nation’s most respected Rottweiler
breeders. Her
first Rott,
an older
rescue dog, recently passed away
and she was excited to
raise another
Rottweiler from a pup.
She brought “Porsche” into her Concord, Ohio home
with the expectation
of beginning his professional
training regimen at about eight weeks. Louise spent
many years training dogs and horses
in Geauga
county, so she understood the importance of training, particularly
with such a strong breed.
Porsche grew rapidly and began to
embrace the “Alpha” dog behavior
of a born leader. His first trainer,
in
Geauga county. could not establish
dominance and actually began to fear
him. Louise recognized the
dangers
of ineffective training and switched
him to another trainer in Lake
County, who also failed to
establish
dominance. The final straw occurred
during a walk on a public bike path
when Porsche started
snapping at Louise, an accomplished
animal trainer herself, now feels confident that Porsche
can safely be
in public. other pedestrians, including children.
By the time Porsche reached 80 pounds, he tried to dominate
the
family. After speaking to many people and conducting intense
research, she discovered Lorenzo’s Dog
Training Team.
During the initial evaluation, Lorenzo calmly, but firmly
helped Porsche consider a new role as a subordinate
dog. Within minutes, Porsche responded to the handling and
Louise was sold.
After normal coursework, Porsche
is calmer and unconcerned with
dominating everyone around him.
Louise can confidently take him
to his groomer, where his good
behavior is rewarded with cookies
and praise by the female staff.
“Porsche enjoyed training. The
down-stay in the car was one of the
greatest training principles ever”,
said Louise. “He’s such a great dog
now. When people tell me they have
a problem with their dog, I truly
recommend Lorenzo’s”.
